Friend Jim Osterman writes in the AJC about what truly matters most on the day when we sit down this week to give thanks. He graciously allowed us to share his column with you here.
“…Happily, most of us have much to be thankful for. We wake in a soft bed with clean sheets and under a roof in a home with electricity, running water and a thermostat. Our kitchens have more than enough food; we have clean clothes to wear and at least one dependable car. We have cell phones and computers and money in the bank. And that’s all in the plus column before our feet hit the floor every morning.” Read more…
A ‘Handful’ of Fun
Happy Birthday, Claudia P.
Today, Claudia Pezzino would have been 25 years old. She graced our lives for 18 years and, oh, how lucky we all were to be her friend. Our thoughts are with her parents, Pauline and John, and in Claudia’s honor, we wanted to share a piece I wrote soon after her passing. Happy birthday, dear Claudia.
“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.”

It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere
Well, peak margarita season may be over but we’re featuring this libation anyway. First tried this drink at one of Arielle’s and my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. I raved about it so much that night the server actually whispered the recipe in my ear. Now we’re not sayin’ who said it…or exactly where it was said…but we are sharing the secret with you here. Happy Friday!
MMMMMMMMARGARITA
4 oranges
2 limes
1 lemon
Powdered sugar
Lime wedge
Your fav tequila
A little Cointreau (optional)
Squeeze all the fruit and combine juices; pour into tall glass. Add 2 heaping tsp of powdered sugar and shake or stir vigorously. Then add tequila to taste (we sometimes add a little splash of Cointreau, too) and pour over ice. Yummo!
