We Interrupt This Blog…

Arielle is in NYC through early August working for CRT/tanaka (http://www.crt-tanaka.com/) and building her resume. What this really means is that Mike, Adrian and I now have a perfectly good excuse to go back ‘n’ forth to the Big Apple to check on her (and feed her, clothe her, take her to shows, sight-see, let her sleep in our hotel room instead of the NYU dorm, etc.).

Here she is in Coney Island with Adrian in front of the original Nathan’s Famous hot dog stand, after watching the Brooklyn Cyclones beat the State College Spikes 4-2. Adrian got a foul ball. 😀

Our oldest, Arielle, is in South Africa right now with Global L.E.A.D.
(http://www.globalleadprogram.org/).
Many of the students are writing on the L.E.A.D. Cape Town blog about their experiences and adventures. So far, Arielle has gone cage diving with Great White Sharks, she’s ridden elephants, gone on safari, and jumped off the highest bungee jump in the world (her first and last time, she says). Her leadership and community work will start next week.

Food Memories from Alabama. James Beard award winner Scott Peacock has departed Watershed restaurant in Decatur, Ga., to focus on a new film documentary that will chronicle the oral histories of some of Alabama’s oldest residents and their food memories. Scott helped put Southern cuisine on the culinary map for Atlanta, but he’s returning to his ‘bama roots to complete this important project. He also wants to write books, including a memoir about his relationship with the great Southern chef Edna Lewis. Looking forward to the stories he’ll share. http://tiny.cc/CUbQ1
