It’s cool to see familiar sights through someone else’s eyes–or lens. Here are some shots Lisa Bertagnoli took of our place while visiting last weekend from Chicago. (Thanks, Lisa B.!)
Mike’s To-Do List…Part 4 (Revisited)
If you recall “Mike’s To-Do List…Part 4” (http://bit.ly/cEb1gV), item #1 was to price new heat pumps. Here’s why. This is just part of the broken heating unit pulled out of the dirt basement today.
Signs of Spring
Chaos (continued)
Mike and the guys are now bracing and jacking underneath the house where the stone foyer is sinking. They’re also replacing two double doors, a shower door, an exhaust fan, two rotten barn doors, a broken garage door opener, installing one ceiling fan and one light fixture, and, oh, patching the leaking chimney. They’ve already ripped out an entire deck, tacky dog run and the rest of the rotten fencing. Chaos has ensued–with lumber, wire, tools, trash, trucks and machinery strewn all about as the boys finish these projects and build the new fencing. (I’m staying in ATL ’til this storm passes.)
Next On Deck: A New Deck

Uh-oh. Found out this week our deck is rotten. I mean, really rotten. So rotten in fact, Ron the contractor shook his head and said, “It could collapse at any time.” Well, there goes Mike’s notion that the old deck would easily make it another year. (For the record: I always had doubts, especially when the damn thing swayed.)
Fire up the chainsaw, boys. Let’s tear that sucker out and build another.
