Fences

Twenty years in the city and we’ve hardly ever had to think about fencing. But now it seems that’s all we ever do think about. Cuz let me tell you, we gotta lotta fencin’ to do at our ‘bama getaway. For almost a year now, we’ve been pondering “fencey” things like: Three-board or four-board? 2×4 vs. 2×6? Wood or PVC? Painted or no? Barbed wire? Nah. How about smooth? To electrify or not to electrify? And just how wide do those gates really need to be to fit a horse trailer or tractor? A big shout-out to Ron and Shay who got this party started with a gorgeous new front pasture fence and back privacy. Those boys are master carpenters. And to their new apprentice, Mike D., who’s doing all the fencing around the pool himself. Hubby estimates he hammered his thumb about 15 times this week. Next up: upper pasture. Think we’re going with smooth wire and solar electric.

  1. What a nice wood fence! I love that trellis gate, it sure will be pretty with some sort of climbing vines or flowers on it. You have a beautiful place!
