Today’s Nature Lesson

Over the weekend we kept seeing this lone wild turkey out in one of the pastures. Now that’s unusual because these birds normally travel in small flocks. When Mike drove out there later to check some fence line he practically ran over the darn thing, which was hiding in the tall grass.
And now we know why:
She was protecting her clutch!
Which means nest!
Which means we have turkey eggs in the back pasture!
The same pasture that’s due to get cut next week.
Gotta go call Buster before he fires up that tractor.
Note: Ever heard of the National Wild Turkey Federation?  Us neither, but we can all learn more @ their website. 🙂
